This is my first project for Hasselblad Japan.
It is heavily based on the photos featuring Sayoko Yamaguchi, the first Japanese model who made an international breakthrough in the fashion world. Sayoko was an eclectic icon of the ’70s and the ’80s, a true inspiration for an entire generation of Japanese photographers.
These pictures are a tribute to her and to all the photographers, designers, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, and editors who put their skills to create stunning “straight out of the camera” images.
There’s no photoshop and no retouch; only the hard work of a committed team.
I had the same old school approach: every shots counts, representing the passion of those who believe in creating something inspiring.
The project also became an Exhibition at Hasselblad Showroom in Tokyo, 2018.
